Alternative Federal Budget

The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) has released its Alternative Federal Budget (AFB) for 2020. It lays out a plan to protect the public, workers and families amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Again this year, the Canadian Health Coalition wrote the AFB’s health care chapter. Our recommendations include increasing federal health transfer payments to the provinces, enforcing the Canada Health Act and implementing universal, public pharmacare. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us how crucial it is to increase the capacity of our public health care system, both in times of crisis and in the long-term.
